The Algarve is once again making its mark on the international golf scene with a calendar packed with prestigious competitions throughout 2026. The region, recognized worldwide for the quality of its courses, privileged climate, and excellent infrastructure, will host events that promise to attract thousands of players and visitors from various countries.
The highlight of the year will be the Portugal Invitational, taking place between July 31st and August 2nd at The Els Club Vilamoura. This will be the first PGA TOUR Champions event held in Portugal, bringing together 78 internationally renowned players and once again placing the Algarve in the spotlight of world golf.
The calendar kicked off in January with the 33rd International Portuguese Senior Ladies Golf Championship, held in Vilamoura, and the traditional Almond Blossom Tournament, played at the Palmares Golf Course in Lagos. Both events confirmed the region's strong capacity to host high-level competitions.
The final stretch of the year will be particularly intense. Among the highlights are the West Algarve Golf Trophy (November 24-27), the East Algarve Golf Festival (November 28-December 5), the Quinta do Lago Golden Tournament (November 28-December 5), and the IV Sotavento Golf Trophy (December 8-12), which will take place at the prestigious courses of Monte Rei, Quinta da Ria, and Quinta do Vale.
Beyond the sporting impact, these events play an important role in promoting tourism and the economy of the region. Golf continues to be one of the main drivers of quality tourism in the Algarve, also contributing to the appreciation of the real estate market, especially in destinations such as Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo, and Monte Rei.
With an increasingly relevant calendar and the presence of prestigious international competitions, the Algarve will reinforce its position as one of the best golf destinations in Europe and the world by 2026.
